THE LINDEMAN COMPETITION

The first of our 'in house' competitions for 2014/15 was held on 22nd October. This was The Lindeman for members films not exceeding 5 minutes screen time. Top honours went to Kevin Pritchard and James Keller for "GRAHAM & NICKY" (pic. bottom left) a collection of clips taken at a wedding with soft focusing, smooth cross dissolves and various colour layers in between set to suitable music. Second place went to Ron Armes. His animated "A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK" portrayed a prospective wedding groom and his sister-in-law to be. The punchline was unexpected.

"SEA CRUISE" was the title of the entry placed third made by Keith Baker which contained shots of a cruise ship holiday, all cut to the beat of the music.

Standing beside Nelson at Trafalgar at the time of his death was Captain Hardy of the Victory. It should have been Chichester born and bred Captain of the Fleet and Nelson's friend, Admiral Sir George Murray. If that had happened, history would have been different. Some of 'MY DEAR MURRAY' was filmed on location inside 'VICTORY' at Portsmouth.

NEW!

Our meeting on Fireworks night, November 5th was the annual friendly PORTSDOWN/CHICHESTER CHALLENGE. This competition with our good friends from Portsdown Video Makers was to find the best programme of three films from each club. Judging the event was three members from Southampton Video Camera Club who kindly gave up their time to find the winners in what they declared was a tough decision as all the entries were of an exceptional standard. The result was a win for CFVM, 13 points to 8.

Top film was John Bradshaw's BIAFF 3*** "THE LAKE ISLE" (pic. below) the opening sequence being in B & W. James Keller plays the troubled man.
